BIO:
Born in 1978, lives and works in Seoul. Studied Fine Art and Art Theory in Seoul. Currently is in charge of contemporary visual art curatorial program in KAMS (Korea Arts Management Service) on behalf of Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (2013-2014).
 
Started curatorial career at one of the early alternative spaces Ssamzie Space (2007-2009), Gyeonggi Creation Center by GyeongGi Cultural Foundation (2010-2012) and as an organizer of NASN (Nonprofit art spaces network). 
 
Hyunsook Ahn has been working in the field of exchange projects between Korean artists and curators and various international institutions such as Mondriaan Fonds(Netherlands), Danish Agency for Culture(Denmark), Arab Society (Korea), Hangar (Spain), Tokyo wonder Site (Japan), Asialink (Australia), Frame Visual art Finland (Finland) PERFORMA/Independent Curators International(ICI)/Residency Unlimited(USA) since 2006.
 
Publications: Gwangju Biennial official catalogue (2006, co-translated); Thinking contemporary curating (2015, co-translated/original author Dr.Terry Smith). 
 
KAMS, the Korea Arts Management Service
Founded in 2006, KAMS aims at supporting and providing services related to international exchange as well as on enhancement of the competitiveness of the Korean performing and visual arts.
KAMS offers diverse research, consulting and educational programs for those in the field to boost the industrial competitiveness of the Korean arts. For that purpose KAMS forms various exchange strategies tailored for different regions, and helps tap on overseas markets through its network of international partners. 
 
 
In the frames of the research visit, Hyunsook Ahn will aim at gaining knowledge about Polish local contemporary art scene in order to find future collaboration partners and artists. Hyunsook Ahn will look for ways to bond the two countries and connect specific art representatives.
