LAZNIA 1 2012 - PRESS CONFERENCE
Łaźnia Centre for Contemporary Art and the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway on the 23rd of November at 11 am invite to Łaźnia CCA, on Jaskółcza 1 Street in Gdańsk, to a press conference regarding the 5th edition of the International Competition of the Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdańsk.

During the conference, Mieczysław Struk the Marshal of Pomeranian Voivodeship will present the winners of the 5th edition of the competition. Within the competition chosen artist will design a graphic on the walls of railway stops of the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway. The artistic graphics will be made in form of illuminated perforations, which will give an exceptional character to each of 8 stops of the PMR, creating at the same time an extraordinary, aesthetical and architectonical feature to the whole new line of the metropolitan railway.

The competition has a closed character and is dedicated to artists, architects and multimedia artist nominated by the Jury of the Competition. The Jury members are art curators who cooperate with the Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdańsk. The Jurors nominated 6 artist from Poland (2 of them are from Pomerania) and abroad to take part in the competition: Anna Waligórska (Poland), Mariusz Waras (Poland), Hans Peter Kuhn (Germany), Lisa Ryter (USA), Andrea Mastrovito (Italy), Metaforma and SUMO (Luxembourg).

The works will be judged according to their artistic and aesthetic value, as well as to the approximate cost of their creation (the artist had to, together with the project,  handout an estimate cost of the project, taking into consideration the authors supervision).

- We really want the PMR  to create a new architectonical quality in Pomerania – says the Marshal of Pomeranian Voivodeship Mieczysław Struk. – Together with those investments we would like to build the social need for aesthetical, modernly designed objects and for contact with art in public space.
