“The exhibition presents a selection of my paintings and drawings from the recent period (2004­–2008). These works provide the core of the show. They are completed by chosen paintings from previous years. The works have been hired from private and public collections. The show thus presents the current painterly pursuit confronted with the solutions I applied in the earlier period. I would hesitate to define the exhibition as a retrospective, maybe rather as an attempt to confront earlier and newer works. The public – art lovers, art people and critics – are given an opportunity to learn, judge and watch the greatest show so far during 21 years of my career, since I graduated from the Academy.” ­– Zdzisław Nitka.
Zdzisław Nitka, born 26 January 1962 in Oborniki Śląskie. His works include paintings, sculptures and woodcuts. Nitka is Professor at the Fine Arts Academy in Wrocław, teaching drawing. He is one of the leading contemporary artists in Poland.
