LAZNIA 1 2001 - Sławomir Góra GERMAN CAR, ITALIAN SUIT, SHOES FROM LONDON
26.10.01-09.12.01

Curator: Małgorzata Lisiewicz

Sławomir Góra’s paintings are both expressive and conceptual. They presented the tightly framed genre scenes, intimate situations, fragments of rooms, parts of the facades of buildings as captured by the eye of a passer-by. The strongly emotional language from the earlier years was here structured by the artist within the discipline of schemes taken from the popular and pornographic press and soap operas. This quasi-TV narration of “candid” takes and “love” scenes, disturbed by the motif of the anxiety which accompanied us – the sight of the helicopters on the horizon – was concluded by the artist’s work from the earlier period, Sorrow Tomorrow.
